Friday Photo #10 Hand-painted Signs

For the second week in a row I’m cheating a little, sharing more than one picture and this week is less about the photo and more about the items photographed. For some years now I have made a variety of gifts instead of buying them, whether carvings, paintings, or something else. These signs were made back in 2013, as gifts for sisters at Christmas. There are others, but for some reason I can’t seem to find photos of them.

A hand-painted sign featuring red pandas on books, sleeping. Signs for sisters.
Note the Little Red Book. I thought this was a cunning touch, but that might just be me. Red pandas are lovely things, but they do seem to spend nearly all their time sleeping…

Judith loves red pandas, and has many books, so this sign made sense to me.

Hand-painted sign featuring Little Miss Sunshine. Signs for sisters.
I shall have to take some photos of the shelf I made Ginny – it also features Mr Men and Little Misses, in alter-ego guises as Marvel’s Avengers. It even has a secret compartment, which I was not-very-secretly rather pleased with.

Ginny has always loved Little Miss Sunshine, ever since she was very peedie (small) indeed. This sign is on her bedroom door. I’ve always had a thing for the Mr Men and Little Miss worms, personally.

Homemade sign featuring Moomin and Little My reading The Summer Book, with a quote from this. Signs for sisters.
The Summer Book is, in my opinion, as close you can come to a perfect read. I try and read it every summer and, each year, I discover something new. It tells so much whilst seemingly being rather simple. Wonderful book, and I highly recommend you give it a try!

Finally, The Summer Book, and the Moomin series, are both favourites of Lydia (and myself), and this quote is perfect for a library notice.
